David Fury

OK, next up on my look at Buffy writers/producers is David Fury. Fury was involved in Buffy from the end of Season Two, when he wrote his first episode, through the show's finale. He became a producer in Season Four, a Supervising Producer in Season Five, and a Co-Executive Producer in Seasons Six and Seven. He also wrote the following episodes:

1. Go Fish (2.20)
2. Helpless (3.12)
3. Choices (3.19)
4. Fear, Itself (4.04)
5. Doomed (4.11)
5. The I In Team (4.13)
6. Primeval (4.20)
7. Real Me (5.02)
8. Shadow (5.08)
9. Crush (5.14)
10. Bargaining, Part II (6.02)
11. Life Serial (6.05)
12. Gone (6.11)
13. Grave (6.22)
14. Sleeper (7.08)
15. Showtime (7.11)
16. Lies My Parents Told Me (7.17)

Fury also directed two of the episodes he wrote, Lies My Parents Told Me and Gone.

The first thing I notice here is that Fury wrote Grave, the only non Joss-written season finale. I have no idea whether or not that is important, but it is interesting. He has also scribed some of Spike's best episodes, including Crush, Bargaining II, Grave, and Lies My Parents Told Me.

Unfortunately, Fury is also responsible for some of my least favorite episodes, including Go Fish, which is probably the worst Buffy ever shown, and the extremely frustrating Life Serial. So I'd say his record is mixed. Interestingly, he's probably been the most successful post-Buffy of the entire team, winning two Emmy's for his work on Lost and 24.

Don't forget, Fury also sings in "Once More With Feeling" (he's the mustard man). As does Marti Noxon, actually.
